The information and usage of the system is displayed with a GUI accessed by pressing the L key.

The saga system usually has three steps for each mission.

There is a description of what will happen in the mission. There is also a button to start the mission.
2. The Mission:[]
There is more story followed by the objective to complete the mission. Sometimes you will have to meet a prerequisite to complete it.
- Prerequisites:
Prerequisites usually require you to travel to a specific biome or planet to start a mission.
- Objectives:
Objectives usually require you to kill a specified number of enemies. Sometimes it summons a boss enemy or multiple enemies for you to fight. Some objectives require you to obtain a specified number of an item. Other times the objective is simply to meet a prerequisite.
3. Conclusion:[]
At the completion of a mission you are asked why you fight. Your answer either reduces, adds to or does nothing to your karma.
Side missions:[]
Side missions are available as optional quests for bonus training.

A group allows allows for multiple players to complete the saga system together.
Older versions:[]
While the system is now controlled only with the saga system GUI, it used to rely on items crafted from defeated enemies.
